This small, family-run chocolatiers with an Icelandic twist makes chocolate like no other, and if you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend getting down there before all the Easter chocolate is gone. Amazing chocolate all year round, but gull’s eggs are time-limited!
Eat your fill with food and drink in Edinburgh
Ah, a favourite subject of ours! When it comes to food and drink in Edinburgh, the city is just brimming with restaurants, cafes, bistros, gastro pubs, pizzerias, chippies and just about everything else to tickle your fancy.
If you're looking to dine out, Girdy & Birdy are gradually eating their way through the 'Burgh and updating their restaurant experiences regularly, both on the blog, and - more frequently - through social media.
You don't even have to eat out, either! You can order in, with many delivery services (such as JustEat, Deliveroo and UberEats) happy to bring exactly what you want straight to your door. Food and drink in Edinburgh is always a delight!

Girdy & Birdy Review: Duck & Waffle
Girdy & Birdy descended on a dining experience they’d both been excited to try: Duck & Waffle! And with the whole menu set up for sharing, what could possibly go wrong?
A review of One Canon, a pizza pub in Canonmills
A true indie of a pub, with an excellent vibe, a fantastic range of drinks, comfortable tables, a supply of board games and a proper pizza set up. This ethical relax zone makes excellent pizzas at incredibly fair prices, is open late and should be on your to-visit list.
A review of Bijou Bistro, a restaurant off Leith Links on Restalrig Road
If French food is synonymous with quality, then perhaps that’s more appropriate as the food here is always top-notch, interesting and rewarding.
Protein Bar statistic analysis – which is the best bar?
I have a spreadsheet of (at the time of writing) two dozen protein bars and have entered their weight, sugar, carbs and protein count.
A review of Ice Angels, an ice cream parlour in Canonmills
A family-run treat for the sugar senses! There’s a fantastic range of tasty ice cream here, with an impressive number of cone options. It’s the sundaes, the waffles, the crepes and even the chocolate or fruit kebabs that help make Ice Angels a proper destination, though and a place worth travelling to. Go, go, go!
A birthday cake review of Licks Cake Design
Dangerously easy. I think a custom birthday cake is a great way to celebrate the day, but it requires you to book well in advance and be happy to pay for the time and skill involved. Licks Cake Design is my one and only experience of the process, but it’s one that’s convinced me to do it again.
A review of the Urban Jungle Brunch Room by Seb’s Urban Jungle on Leith Walk
A friendly cafe and plant shop, what a great combination, and an oasis of green near the urban throb of the foot of Leith Walk. It’s one I recommend.
