Edinburgh Reviews accepts guest reviews but not all reviews. Please read the following and get in touch with your suggestion before writing the review in order to avoid disappointment.
Local Reviews
Edinburgh Reviews is a place for reviews about businesses, services, authors, artists based in Edinburgh or events that happen in the city. Additionally, the site also provides a home for locals who have tried an internet service (such as a retailer, Etsy store, travel company, etc) who can supply the city.
Unique Reviews
All the reviews on this site must be unique. They cannot have been used anywhere else before. Authors can re-post their review on their own blog, after 24 hours, with a link back to the original on Edinburgh Reviews.
Authentic Reviews
All reviews must be real. Authors cannot review their own books and neither can PR companies provide reviews for clients. The editor will likely nofollow any link included in the review and if you don’t know what this means then that’s no bad thing. Any financial relationship to the subject of the review, such as accepting a freebie, must be disclosed to readers. This is a legal requirement in the UK.
Helpful Reviews
A review should be at least 500 words long. Additionally, it needs a summary and a star rating (for the widget that appears on most reviews). All reviews require two images; one in portrait and one at least 800 pixels wide to be the featured image. Multiple pictures are often very helpful. Creative Commons pictures, with correct attribution, are also welcome.
Author Accounts
Reviews are initially submitted by email. The first couple of reviews any individual does will be posted by the guest reviewer account and a byline added.
Reviewers who submit more than a few reviews will have their own named account. Reviews previously published will be transferred to that account. Reviewers who have submitted many reviews and who are fairly familiar with WordPress will have their account enabled for login and this will allow them to post at will.
