What does 'El Al' in Edinburgh mean, anyway?

Et all basically means 'everything else'! There's plenty to do in Edinburgh that doesn't fit into the category of food, shopping, travel, festival, entertainment and businesses - so, we created this category to cover... well, whatever else we choose to cover!

Things like massages/wellness, competitions, experiences, events and even some appropriate Edinburgh-based headlines that have got people talking/captured our imaginations!

Transforming the Edinburgh Dungeon

April 30, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The tiny Edinburgh Reviews team were invited in by the good folks at The Edinburgh Dungeon team for a tour and a catch up behind the scenes. We really enjoyed the tour and you can read the review of the Edinburgh Dungeon in a previous post as well as get the link to the discounted […]

Edinburgh’s snowy March

March 18, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The weather forecast is for more snow. In fact, the MetOffice has just issued an amber alert for snow for South West Scotland. We’re just recovering from the last bout of snow but this blogger was able to get out to Leith Links before too many footprints to take some pictures.

Smoke Stack Steakhouse shame vengeful customer, spark debate

March 13, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

On Facebook the Smoke Stack Steakhouse and Bar have whisked up a debate by responding to a 1/5 Trip Advisor review. The review, titled “Embarrassed!”, is from a customer who complains her party was not served drinks because the bar claimed they were drunk. How did the Smoke Stack respond? They bundled an image of […]

Edinburgh Tattoo video becomes YouTube smash hit

March 7, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

This video has earned more than 100,000 plays on YouTube and has been featured on sites like Neatorama, Laughing Squid and The Awesomer. It shows the Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland performing in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Here’s the catch; they’re not military, they’re not British or Commonwealth. They made it to Edinburgh Castle […]

Flashmob wedding proposal at Edinburgh Airport

March 6, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

This is one way to propose to your girlfriend. In this case it’s Samuel Waldron proposed to his girlfriend Sibylle Pausch on a flight from Heathrow to Edinburgh. This choir flashmob was an added surprise. The Sing in the City Choir had three weeks to prepare and plan the wedding medley. Shout out to Edinburgh […]

Edinburgh’s Union of Genius turn to Kickstarter

January 23, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood 3 Comments

I’m rather addicted to the crowd funding site Kickstarter. It’s not just a place to “pre pre-order” and get stuff cheap. It’s a place you can back artists and, increasingly, good local causes. You can back this local Edinburgh company by promising just £5 (if they’re successful) in return for a mention or £10 that […]

Sponsored Video: A new type of camera for #blogmanay

December 30, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a busy time of year here in Edinburgh. It’s Hogmanay; there are in door parties, outside parties and fireworks. It’s a time of year when gatherings are arranged by social networks and at midnight it’s not unusual to see delays on text messages as mobile operators get swamped. I like Hogmanay for the […]

Winter in Edinburgh

October 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Marketing Edinburgh’s new (first?) campaign for Edinburgh has been forced to ditch the “Incrediburgh” slogan. The rest of the work pushes on. This ad, from The Leith Agency, is the first in the six figure campaign. The Winter in Edinburgh site, currently offering a chance to win a two night stay at the Princess Street […]
