Sponsored Video: Escape the festival chaos for Chaos Island

August 15, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I once heard Scotland described as a beautiful country in which most of the population lived in a central band that stretched from Glasgow in the West to Edinburgh in the East. Except in August, in August all the locals get the heck out of Edinburgh and go to live somewhere else for a month.

I think it’s a great description of Scotland, not because it’s necessarily true but because it places poet emphasis on the chaos that August brings to Edinburgh. Although I’ve learned the like the festival by using it to cherry pick the best I can see why some people would want to escape.

Step forward Lynx and their Chaos Island competition.

The competition launched yesterday, on the 14th of August, and involves a treasure hunt across the web. Sophie Hellyer, a British surfer (and, I suspect, very much the demographic Lynx associates with) kick started the competition by encouraging people to tweet #chasethechaos.

There will be five treasure hunts in total and the tip is to check the Lynx Effect Facebook page at 4pm on Tuesday and 10am on Saturday to catch the start.

Lynx now have female fragrances alongside their familiar male products so the competition should be good for most people. There’s no word as to whether Edinburgh Reviews will be taking part in the online treasure hunt but feel free to explore the blog just in case.
