I like picnics; I didn’t know if I liked Charlie Vero-Martin when I first agreed to come along and review the show, but I was told her comedy was funny if slightly on the weird side – and well, that was me sold.
A review of Alphabet Soup, Fringe 2023
Birdy made her way to the Shanghai at Le Monde, George Street, for what promised to be the most fabulous LGBTQIA+ comedy brunch/lunch. Comedy shows at the Fringe? Ten to the dozen. LGBTQIA+ comedy variety BRUNCHES at the Fringe? Now, that’s a rarer thing. When I was offered a ticket for Alphabet Soup, featuring LGBTQIA+ […]
A review of Ivy Paige: Burlesque Bombshell
I’d actually seen a little of Ivy Paige before tonight, at Vive la Variete, and it was off the strength of her performance that I decided to go and see her perform at her own show, Burlesque Bombshell.
Review: The George Lucas Talk Show
The George Lucas Talk Show has a reputation that precedes it; and therefore, it also has some hardcore fans. Previous guests have included the likes of Seth Meyers, Weird Al, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Hamm, Kevin Smith, Peter Serafinowicz, Ahmed Best, Tony Hale, Aimee Mann and writers of Star Wars.
Review: ‘The Retreat’ will make you moist in your men-ses
Birdy headed to one of her favourite venues, The Underbelly at Cowgate, to watch The Retreat – a fabulous variety comedy show themed around a corporate retreat for a company that makes period pants. As everyone filed into the Underbelly’s Big Belly, there was an air of anticipation as we awaited the acts to appear. […]

A review of Amelia Bayler: I Work in Customer Service But I’m Actually a Pop Star, Fringe 2023
It was Birdy’s first time in the BlundaBus, and she got a warm welcome from Amelia Bayler as she made her way through the curtain, up the stairs and plonked down on the nearest bench ready for a fun show. I’d never seen Amelia Bayler perform before, but apparently she had this very same venue […]
Review of Lost Cabaret: Nonsense in the Night, Fringe 2023
As a general rule, I’m usually up for anything cabaret, and anything a bit weird, whimsical and silly, so this show appealed to me whilst browsing the media portal. I didn’t realise until after I’d booked that it was based in the famous Magical Spiegelyurt, so that was also a bit of a treat.
