When is the Olympic Torch coming to Edinburgh?

May 2, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

The 2012 Olympic Torch is coming to Edinburgh. Two great questions to ask in response to that statement are; when is the Olympic Flame coming to Edinburgh and where in Edinburgh will the Olympic Torch going?

The Olympic Torch reaches Edinburgh on the 13th of June. That’s the day to expect TV cameras and all flavours of journalists to be out and about on the streets.

There is a list of streets that the Olympic Flame will be carried through. The route is an assumption at this stage but its hard to imagine too many variants. It may also be subject to change. So, where is the torch in Edinburgh going?

  • Calder Road
  • Chesser Avenue
  • Slateford Road
  • Shandon Place
  • Ashley Terrace
  • Gray’s Loan
  • Colinton Road
  • Holy Corner
  • Bruntsfield Place
  • Leven Street
  • Home Street
  • Lauriston Place
  • Forrest Road
  • George IV Bridge
  • Lawnmarket
  • Castlehill
  • Edinburgh Castle

The Olympic Torch starts in Calder Road and the Edinburgh leg of the relay finishes at Edinburgh Castle. There’s an unofficial Google Map of the key streets.
