Ahh, I’ve missed proper cabaret – where you get a real variety of acts. A lot of it (at least in Edinburgh) seems to have gravitated towards purely burlesque, so this was going to be a real treat.

I must admit, I’d seen the posters for Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story, but it was seeing Linus Karp as Diana that day during another show – The Retreat – that really sold it for me, and this show quickly rose to the top of my must-see list.

I didn’t really know what to expect from musical comedy 60 Minutes of Mood Swings and was really pleasantly surprised – I saw the show on its first day, and for me it was just perfect.

The show is a one-woman show – a monologue – performed by talented actress Maria DeCotis, who commands the stage and does so with confidence and air that makes you want to hang off her every word.

I like picnics; I didn’t know if I liked Charlie Vero-Martin when I first agreed to come along and review the show, but I was told her comedy was funny if slightly on the weird side – and well, that was me sold.

Tragedy Plus Time takes place in the Assembly Rooms and the anticipation was palpable. Not only were people coming to see their favourite comedian, but it was in proper fancy surroundings.
