Edinburgh’s Vessels on target for colour comic book

February 16, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Vessels is the name of a new comic book from the Edinburgh based creator Dave Cook. It’s successfully Kickstarted with over 100 backers and raising more than £1,600. At the time of writing there are still two weeks for people to get involved, backing the project to get a copy, their name in the comic or even a highly collectible signed first.

If the Kickstarter campaign reaches £1,800 the story of Wake and her battle against the Eye God will become a full colour comic book. Dennis Lehmann is making this possible and the two sample pages we’ve been shown look great.

A pledge of just £3 unlocks a PDF copy of the comic while stepping up to £4 (plus shipping) gets you a signed print copy. This blogger has gone for the £10 option, not just happy to support an Edinburgh-based creator but also keen to unlock the signed A4 poster that becomes available at that level while getting a thank you credit in the issue.

As it happens the stretch goal after the full colour comic unlocks t-shirts for all backers at the £10+ level. Just sayin’.

There are plenty more pledge tiers available with the worldwide exclusive, the only double-signed Vessels, being available for £100.

It’s great to see Edinburgh authors, publishers and creators doing well in Kickstarter and the community support them. In the case of Vessels it’s clear that support is coming from around the world. Dave Cook’s already shown he can deliver with Bust, a comic book Edinburgh Reviews looked at last month.

What’s been the best campaign you’ve supported on Kickstarter? Let us know in the comments below.

Aaand a pleasant way to end #sugarsunday with the help of @iceangels_edin
Red eyes and dark humour! I approve.
#sugarsunday begins with pleasantly sculpted mountains of chocolate crunch from @mimisbakehouse
You can be as dumb as me and still see that @matto.pizza is pretty darn popular! Mainly takeaway, but I sat in the corner and wolfed pizza from the box.
I went for a little sample 🤘 including the one in the middle @donguero.taqueria doing @moonwakebeer taproom customers proud
At @moonwakebeer this weekend are the delicious @donguero.taqueria and rather than pick a taco I got the three deal and fish, pork and beef at once 🌮
