I’m going to start this review of the extreme blanket from Cuckooland with two quick stories of success flipflops.
The first flipfops is my attempt to get something for Father’s Day. Cuckooland is a candidate site for that, especially if Dad likes cooking pizza. In this case, I ended up with a review freebie for myself – the blanket. Sorry, Dad.
Secondly, I had been eying these blankets-come-hoodies with names like snodes or hoodlets and the like but had been resisting because I knew I’d only wear them while watching TV on the sofa. I rarely do that. So when I saw the extreme lounging quilted fleece b blanket had a clip to let you fasten it around your shoulders like a cape, I knew it was the best of both the snood world and the blanket world.
However, when the blanket arrived, I saw that, given the durable outside quilted layer, it would be great for picnics. And the success flipflop? I promptly got ill, stayed at home, and suffered ill; of course, that also meant wrapping up in a blanket and watching TV from the sofa.
So, here we are! I’m feeling much better and have spent hours with the extreme fleece to test it.
The cape blanket
You really can drape the blanket around your shoulders and fasten it in place. I shuffled back and forth from the fridge to the sofa without having to leave the cuddles of the fleece or faff around, re-draping myself once I was back in my chair.
The clasp is clever—it’s magnetic. I’d describe the clips as strong because they certainly hold the blanket up, but they’re also designed to give way so that you don’t strangle yourself if you stand on the blanket.
Why don’t superheroes consider magnetic clips on their cloaks?
Practically speaking, you might only wear the blanket as a cape to facilitate moving around the room without putting the blanket down. You might also wear it like a bib, so you can sit back down and be immediately wrapped in the fuzzy and warm side.
The cuddle blanket

It’s supposed to be summer, perhaps still spring. Forgive me for not knowing. I’m Scottish, and the seasons blur together here. It’s supposed to be the warm part of the year, and yet, while I was ill, nothing I did could make the flat feel warm.
The quilted fleece (or the duvet at night) was the only thing that seemed able to warm me. It’s so fluffy on one side!
Words like “luxurious” are appropriate to describe the warm side of the blanket, but I’m going with “cuddle” because that’s what draping myself in the fleece felt like.
The picnic blanket

Okay, so I’ve not tested the outdoor picnic skills of the blanket but at 140cm wide and 200cm long, it’s large enough for two people. I have tested rolling it out in front of the TV, sitting on the floor, and eating popcorn.
The previous section was all about the cuddle side of the fleece, but the other side, the quilted layer, is just as important because this is the side you’ll put down facing the grass.
Importantly, the blanket also comes with a storage bag. The storage bag reminds me of the thin but robust material you might put a sleeping bag or tent into. I can confirm it is possible to roll the blanket up tightly enough to feed back into the storage bag. I’ve done it; I’ve never done it well.
Overall
Who knew it was possible to say so much about a quilted fleece? My blanket is a dark grey colour (there are options), warm, portable and blessed with a clever magnetic clip that means I can wear it like a cape.
The material feels high quality and robust, yet soft and warm.
I was lucky to be offered a review option for the blanket as they cost about £60 new. That’s not much for a duvet or even these posh tartan rugs I see all over Edinburgh, but I concede, it’s more than I’d pay for preparation for a one-off picnic.
Overall? Recommended! If you’re planning on getting ill and needing to furnace in luxury on the sofa then the extreme lounging quilted fleece b blanket is strongly recommended.
The photography used here is a mix of my own and photographs taken from Cuckooland. No prices for telling which is which.

Summary
A warm, well-made and cleverly designed multi-purpose fleece blanket suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It’s not cheap but a wise investment.
