Join in the fun with festivals in Edinburgh

During the month of August, Edinburgh is home to some of the biggest and most renowned festivals in the world; Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, and Edinburgh Book Festival.

Tourists flock from around the world to attend some of the most prestigious, weird, whacky and exciting events you'll find. There are performers on the streets, and almost every single pub and club is turned into a venue for the Fringe. We're big fans, but it can also feel like a lot when you haven't experienced it before.

Luckily, there are handy brochures and all the information you'll need is online - from high-ticket, exclusive and limited-run shows, to free Fringe shows where you can just turn up on the night, and only pay what you feel like. There's something for everyone, and we're here to cover as much of it as humanly possible!

Review: I’m Not Saying We Should, But What If We Did?, Fringe 2025

August 11, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This show is a compelling satire on populist politics, female rage, and male privilege. The premise of banning men is confronting and thought-provoking, and the play’s unique visuals will stay with you long after it ends.

A rousing and thought-provoking musical that re-examines the Minotaur myth through the eyes of Princess Ariadne.

A clever and captivating true crime musical, Bury the Hatchet blends sharp storytelling with lively bluegrass tunes and dynamic performances.

Review: Shamilton! The Improvised Hip-Hop Musical, Fringe 2025

August 11, 2025 by Guest Reviewer Leave a Comment

An improv musical is like Forrest Gump’s chocolate box – you never know what you’re gonna get – but with this troupe you’re in safe hands.

Review: David O’Doherty – Highway to the David Zone, Fringe 2025

David O’Doherty’s “Highway to the David Zone” is a delightful and more mature show, packed with his signature wit and charm, and is highly recommended for all Fringe-goers.

Review: Benji Waterhouse – Maddening, Fringe 2025

Maddening is a captivating show where Dr Benji Waterhouse shares darkly funny and challenging stories from the front lines of mental health care.

Review: The Fit Prince (who gets switched on the square in the frosty castle the night before (insert public holiday here)), Fringe 2025

August 10, 2025 by Bronwen Winter Phoenix Leave a Comment

Birdy grabbed herself a quick pick-me-up caramel latte on her way to Pleasance to watch the latest show from her Fringe faves, Awkward Productions – and she wasn’t disappointed!

Review: Candace Bryan – MILF (Mom I’d Like to Find), Fringe 2025

August 10, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

A clever, cathartic, and consistently hilarious hour of stand-up that turns a powerful personal story about a missing mother into a triumph of comedy.
