Buy Edinburgh socks; help the homeless

September 4, 2021 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This isn’t a review as I’ve not tested either the service or the socks, but how could I not write about Stand 4 Socks?

Edinburgh socks

Whenever you buy a pair of socks from the site, they give a pair of antibacterial socks to a homeless person.

Did you know the average person buys 16 pairs of socks a year? I didn’t… and I absolutely don’t buy that many socks! That’s the figures Stand 4 Socks gave me, though, and I suppose I believe it.

I’m also told that the average person wears socks for 15 hours a day. That’s a far more approachable figure. That’s 9 hours in bed or the bath and otherwise sockless.

As an eCommerce player, you can buy Stand 4 Socks from the site and ship them to Edinburgh. There’s a stronger connection than that to this fair city, though. You can buy Edinburgh skyline socks from them. I imagine you could even buy 16 pairs.

Stand 4 Socks sent me some pictures of these socks that don’t just replicate what’s on the website. How cool is this? The Manchester-based company have some Edinburgh photography for their Edinburgh socks.

Stand 4 Socks say they’ve donated more than 150K pairs of socks. That’s great and horrible at the same time. Surely we can do something about the housing crisis.

The company’s socks are made from sustainable materials and ethical processes.

You can visit the Stand 4 Socks site here.

A "do the bloomin' washing" chant!
I'm impressed at how square this... mulch(?) still is in the back of the truck. I'd have thought it would at least have succumbed to gravity and spilled forward! I guess @rbgedinburgh gardeners have advanced magicks!
This is what it looks like when @thebonnienook and @gingerbeardbakes team to to make a sunny Thursday even better.
I'm a fan of this modern and inclusive take on #leith 's Perserve motto.
I haven't finished @thebonningtonleith 's menu and there's a new one coming. In fact, the new food is on, the paperwork still needs updated. It is an update so I won't start again, I'll update and carry on!
I don't know what it is, but I like the hat and the dapper attitude of this character chilling at a Granton bus stop.
