How well lit are Edinburgh’s streets for cyclists?

March 7, 2016 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

How well lit are Edinburgh’s streets for cyclists? Edinburgh Reviews asked this question as part of our competition, supporting Love to Ride Edinburgh and giving away a Proviz Reflect 360 cycling jacket.

Whereas it’s true that competition based polls aren’t always the most robust, this particular survey had a straightforward, no reason to guess, question and gathered well over 100 responses. The write-up makes for some interesting analysis. Fewer than 10% of respondants thought Edinburgh’s streets were below average and nearly half the people who replied thought the city was doing well.

The full figures are;

  • Terribly: 0.81%
  • Badly: 8.06%
  • Average: 45.97%
  • Good: 32.26%
  • Great: 12.90%

It’s pleasing to see such a high number of people rating Edinburgh as “great” on the scale.

Edinburgh gets excited by all sorts of things!
Books 📚 and beer 🍺 Two of my MANY weaknesses together as @argonautbooks at @moonwakebeer #leith this weekend!
Aaaah! Imagine the delicious willpower of @tastybunsbakery being at the @moonwakebeer market this weekend. They are!
A bit of imagination on offer from @luna_edinburgh for the @moonwakebeer event. I'm not too much of a believer but using #tarot to guide your thoughts is an interesting technique.
Imagine how amazing Calton Hill's #GiraffeAboutTown will look in the right light!
Let's keep Edinburgh green!
