Review: Cheesin’ at Edinburgh Street Food

April 28, 2024 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Delicious and morish. Now, morish is a double-edged sword. I’ve never left Cheesin’ feeling full and always wanted more. The only straight-up niggle is that I thought that each time my food could have been faster, but, yes, I’m impatient.

Review: 71 Steps, a bagel bakery on Rodney Street

February 29, 2024 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

71 Steps is a new cafe on Rodney Street with excellent coffee, a selection of baked treats and a menu of closed and open bagels. It’s absolutely worth a visit, especially if you’re looking for a place to sit down and treat yourself.

Review: Tasty Buns Baker, City Centre

February 14, 2024 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’ve an excuse to review one of my favourite bakers in Edinburgh, a city filled with great bakeries, so let’s talk about Tasty Buns.

Review: Goose73, a wine and gastro bar on Broughton Street

A new wine and Italian small plate bar with a lovely, pleasant and polite vibe on Edinburgh’s popular-with-foodies Broughton Street.

Review: SoftCore, an ice cream and dessert parlour at ESF

January 28, 2024 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

SoftCore offers delicious warm cookies and artisanal ice cream at fair prices, with generous hours and from the thumping beat of Edinburgh Street Food’s busy city centre location. Want to perk up any ESF meal? Add SoftCore.

Review: Cheese ‘n’ Toasted, a grilled cheese sandwich shop in Stockbridge

January 21, 2024 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Cheese ‘n’ Toasted is a grilled sandwich shack in a shop in Stockbridge’s bustling food haven. It’s a lovely place to get a high-end toastie and eat in the warmth, no matter the weather outside.

Review: Ozen Street Food, a bao bun shack outside St James Quarter

January 10, 2024 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

There’s now a surprising number of bao specialists in Edinburgh! I’ll have to write up a top list at this rate, and when I do, you can count on Ozen Street Food being in it.

Review: Sweet Paradice Desserts, an ice cream parlour in Morningside

January 7, 2024 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Sweet Paradice Desserts is a pink oasis of sugar on the outskirts of Morningside, with a devilishly tempting range of ice cream, waffles, milkshakes and cakes. One visit here will meet your calorie and Instagram bragging quota for the day and be worth it.
