Review: Jess Robinson – Your Song, Fringe 2025

August 6, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

A five-star review for a high-energy, hilarious show. Jess Robinson is a phenomenal singer and impressionist who fills the prestigious Assembly stage with ease. Even if you’re not an Elton John superfan, this tribute is a must-see for its incredible talent and comedic genius.

Review of Ali Woods: At the Moment, Fringe 2024

August 7, 2024 by Bronwen Winter Phoenix Leave a Comment

Birdy made it along to The Underbelly’s Jersey room in enough time to ensure not being late (that’s not good for this show – you’ll be judged) to see standup comic Ali Woods.

Review of Rhod Gilbert: The Man with the Flaming Battenburg Tattoo, Fringe 2012

September 4, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Fringe version of The Man with the Flaming Battenburg Tattoo is about an hour long and that feels about the right length of time for the routine. A film begins the set by showing a short video of Rhod getting the tattoo. It’s connected to a TV series that featured him doing different jobs […]

August 6, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Piff is probably the only magic dragon with a Chihuahua assistant in the Fringe festival. I caught his show last year and his star has subsequently grown. Last year I queued on a grimy flight of stairs between apartments in order to get my dose of dragon – this year I waited in line to […]

February 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Badpiper is not just a finalist at the Australian Got Talent TV show – he’s also performed on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. If you’re a fan you can even buy his CDs from the website. It was quite some performance. Until today you might not have thought it was possible to play Queen’s We Will […]
