Review: The Wonderful World of Winnie the Pooh, Fringe 2025

August 12, 2025 by Guest Reviewer 2 Comments

The gentle magic of the Hundred Acre Wood was brought to life in this delightful stage adaptation of Winnie the Pooh.

A colourful cast of familiar friends

The production embraced the warm, nostalgic charm of A.A. Milne’s beloved characters, with the cast dressed in colours and styles perfectly reflecting each personality.

Pooh in bright red and yellow, Piglet in soft green, Eeyore in grey, Tigger in his bold orange stripes, and Christopher Robin in his familiar outfit. Owl and Rabbit were also wonderfully brought to life, adding more layers to the well-loved world.

Songs, smiles, and a gentle pace

From the opening scene, the show radiated a light, joyful atmosphere. Singing and dancing flowed naturally through the story, with melodies that felt familiar yet fresh, and choreography that was simple but engaging for both children and adults, it also  included lovely live guitar playing that added warmth to the show.

The pacing was calm but never slow, making it easy for younger audience members to follow along. Many families had brought babies, and the relaxed, gentle tone of the performance made it welcoming for even the very youngest.

A particularly magical touch came during a scene with colourful balloons, which delighted the children in the audience.

Performances full of charm

The actors shone in their roles, each one clearly understanding the spirit of the character they portrayed. Pooh’s slow, thoughtful delivery was endearing, Tigger’s energy was infectious, Piglet’s gentle nature drew smiles, and Eeyore’s quiet humour balanced the brighter moments.

Owl and Rabbit brought their own quirky personalities to the stage, creating more variety in tone and pace. There was a clear love for the source material in every scene, from the way the characters interacted to the subtle nods to classic Pooh stories.
