Review: Messy Magic Adventure, Fringe 2025

August 12, 2025 by Guest Reviewer Leave a Comment

The Messy Magic Adventure show burst onto the stage with high energy, big laughs, and plenty of surprises.

A silly, sparkling spectacle

Performed by a brilliantly entertaining male and female duo from New Zealand, the show told a wonderfully silly story about cleaning… with a magical twist.

From the moment they appeared, the pair embraced a wacky, over the top style that felt delightfully childish in the best possible way exactly what keeps young audiences hooked.

Magic, mayhem, and mess

The performance was packed with jaw-dropping tricks and playful chaos. Fire effects, daring ladder stunts, and disappearing acts kept the audience wide-eyed, while bursts of slapstick humour had children roaring with laughter.

The “mess” wasn’t just on stage, audience members got sprayed with water, which sent squeals and giggles through the crowd.

The unpredictability of the show meant no one quite knew what was coming next, making each scene feel fresh and exciting. A little bit of a panto feel too with the kids answering obviously questions.

Laughter and connection

What stood out most was the performers’ ability to connect with their audience.

Their silly banter, exaggerated movements, and wacky comedic timing encouraged children to shout out, clap along, and join in the fun.

There was a constant buzz of laughter and excitement in the theatre, creating a truly shared experience for kids and grown-ups alike.

My little boy gave the show a huge thumbs up and said he wants to see it again, high praise from a kiddo!

Perfect for children over three, the Messy Magic Adventure Show is the kind of live performance that makes kids fall in love with theatre.

Funny, fast paced, and just the right amount of cheeky, it’s a show that leaves you grinning long after the curtain falls.
