Radar: Free sausage roll from Wrights

June 4, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is not a review as I’ve never been to Wrights, but if I were in Newbridge (that’s Edinburgh, right?) tomorrow (Thursday 5th), then I’d pop in for a free sausage roll. If you do so, then you can let us know how you’d review the bakery in the comments below!

Sausage rolls

Tomorrow is apparently “National Sausage Roll Day”, and the 99-year-old bakery is using that as a reason to give free sausage rolls out to visitors. You need to download the Wrights Wallet App in advance and, according to a press release we’ve been sent, show that to the server at ” MFG, 1 Cliftonhall Road, Edinburgh EH28 8PW”. There’s a QR code to flash.

A bit of Googling confirms that Wrights opened in March at the BP garage! Okay, perhaps not the most glamorous story we’ve had, but if you’re commuting in tomorrow morning, then it could be a breakfast bonus!

The press release also gave us a comment from a Wrights spokesperson who said;

At all our stores, our rolls, pies, pasties and slices are served to you exactly as they should be – freshly baked and at the perfect temperature to enjoy on the go.  Never cold, always tasty and always hot!  We’re proud of our 99-year history, and this is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all our happy customers.

99 years is impressive, but the sausage roll has an even longer heritage, dating back to 19th-century France.
