It’ll be first come-first serve, and there are “only” 5,000 vouchers, but to celebrate National Ice Cream Day, Bella Italia is giving away free Carbonara Sundaes or scoops of gelato between 22 and 28 July 2024.
Team Edinburgh Reviews has been told that people can get the vouchers by signing up for the Bella Italia newsletter or by watching Bella Italia on social media.
This blogger signed up for the newsletter this morning; nothing yet, but given that the giveaway starts today, it’s possible email will be too slow and stalking the company’s Facebook page will be better.
What on earth is a “Carbonara Sundae” anyway? We’re told;
The Carbonara Sundae features deliciously creamy vanilla gelato drizzled with white chocolate sauce, topped with bacon-flavoured crispies and Oreo biscuit crumbs.
There’s a Bella Italia on Hanover Street and one on North Bridge.
A spokesperson for the company told us;
We’re thrilled to introduce our Carbonara Sundae, a whimsical twist inspired by our beloved Carbonara. To mark the launch of this weird and wonderful dessert, which includes bacon-flavoured bits(!), and in celebration following on National Ice Cream Day, we are giving away a Carbonara Sundae or two scoops of gelato for a week, inviting everyone to indulge in a taste of Bella Italia.”
