A review of Sing, Sign and Sensory – On Safari, Fringe 2025

August 24, 2025 by Guest Reviewer Leave a Comment

Imagine you could take a break from the bustling city centre of Edinburgh to pop over to the Savannah for a quick safari fix – maybe not the most likely dream but Sign, Sign and Sensory gets pretty close!

The vibe

Stepping into what can only be decorated as a giant inflatable balloon tent, the show does a great job of closing out the outside noise of Gilded Balloon venue and immerse you in a lovely calming animal themed show.

The show mixes storytelling, learning through singing and of course singing with the very cool background of projected video of safari scenes around the rounded ceiling above.

The concept is really engaging and interactive, a complete sensory soothing experience- I think it’s the longest I’ve ever seen my son sitting still quietly while awake!

What to expect

The show is targeted at 0-24 months and there’s something for all ages in there from warm lights and cosy seating to toy animals to play with and even a baby rave at the end which my excitable almost 2 year old LOVED.

I would say a sweet spot for the show would maybe be 12-18 months as it is a very chill enclosed vibe and those wanting a big run around might not enjoy it as much, though my wild one was totally captivated.

And there’s something for the adults too – learning to sign along to Keane while under a disco ball was quite a special wee moment.

Overall

A 45-minute relaxing animal-themed escape from the usual Fringe chaos.

A sensory dream for engaging and stimulating the wee ones with fun singalongs for all ages to enjoy. Get along if you can!
