A review of MoveStore Removals and Storage, Edinburgh

September 27, 2022 by Guest Reviewer Leave a Comment

After six years in our lovely 2-bedroom flat in Comely Bank, the time had finally come for my husband and me to find a new place to call home. Although we had lived in denial with the thought that our flat was big enough for several years, the imminent arrival of our daughter gave us a sharp reality check! We began the hunt for our new home and quickly fell in love with an old cottage close to Haddington that required some work but had a charm that made us know it would be our forever home.

With a hectic work life, my heavily pregnant state and our accumulation of clutter, it became very clear that we would need the help of professionals.

MoveStore

We had previously moved with the help of a ‘Man and Van’ service however the result was rather underwhelming… After a lack of communication, multiple damages and many hidden charges we truly understood that when it came to a removals company you get what you pay for.

So the search for a reputable, fully insured removals company began. When it comes to Edinburgh, we quickly found out that there were hundreds to choose from! After our initial shortlisting of the top rated companies we got in contact with five companies and had incredibly mixed experiences. A few of the companies came across as incredibly abrasive, and I was made to feel as if I had inconvenienced their day; however, I soon found MoveStore Removals and Storage. One of their previous reviews read “Quite possibly one of the friendliest exchanges I’ve had with a removals company” and I couldn’t echo this opinion more. From the first point of contact until the wave goodbye as they left us in our new home they were flawless.

The process began with them clarifying a few details in relation to our move over the phone and then booking us in for a virtual survey. The surveyor called at the exact scheduled time and was incredibly pleasant and informative without possessing the cliché salesman patter! He talked us through the entire moving process, even going into detail of how the buying and selling process would work on the move day – this really helped put our minds at ease. Following on from the survey, the surveyor sent out our quotation which fully outlined his plan for the removal and the costs of each of the services.

We opted to take their full packing service to ensure that everything was packed professionally to avoid any damages.

On the day of the pack, two MoveStore employees arrived at the time agreed and commenced packing up all of our belongings. I had already assumed that I would get very little done that day as I was used to tradesmen taking over our home with their boisterous natures; however this was far from the case with the guys from MoveStore. They clarified which order we would like them to pack up the rooms in our flat in order to cause us the least disruption and then worked away non-intrusively for the rest of the day. The following day a larger team arrived and they began dismantling our beds and then loaded everything onto their vehicles in good time. My husband and I were blown away by all of their custom protective covers – they had covers for everything including the sofas, mattresses, TV’s and even specialist protectors for our artwork!

Once we had the keys to our new home, the team began unloading all of our possessions, they required very little guidance as they had labelled all of the boxes on the packing day. They then re-build all of our beds and wardrobes and moved them around with a smile as we rather indecisively decided on their positioning. It was only in the week following the move that we truly appreciated the quality of their packing service. As we began to unbox everything, we could see the care and attention that had been taken when wrapping and packing everything up.

Without doubt MoveStore Removals and Storage are the only removals company we would consider using in the future – and I would highly recommend anyone reading this to do the same.

Thank you again all the team at MoveStore!

Birdy’s festive dinner @thebotanistuk! A wonderful time was had. Full review coming soon! #edinburghreviews #festivedinner #edinburgh #christmas #edinburghchristmas #diningout #eatingout
A charming pink and green cafe with a clear plant-based foodie focus. @heyplantbae is one of the surprisingly common jewels on Easter Road and is absolutely worth visiting. https://buff.ly/4a7qnfB
If you don't fancy the crowd intensity of the #christmasmarket or the prices then @iceangels_edin is maybe 10 minutes walk away, about a third cheaper for a third more (well, based on my thorough crêpe testing) and they have a #santa mailbox. There's even Christmas Trees for sale up the road. An alternative evening out.
Somewhere new for #sugarsunday as Girdy visits @marias_kitchen21 for a delicious Italian limoncello bread and butter pudding.
The #christmasmarket at @edinburghpalette is on the third floor and open until 4pm.
