I booked Clive Anderson’s My Seven Wonders because I try and go see Clive Anderson at the Fringe. He’s intelligent and funny.
Therefore, I discovered two things in the opening moments of the show.
Firstly, My Seven Wonders is a podcast series in which Anderson invites guests to suggest Wonders, discuss them and then pick the champion. It’s like a reverse Room 101.
Secondly, our guest would be Jimeoin.
I’d consistently and quickly decided to spend my money on tickets for other comedians, but, thankfully, Jimeoin was far more engaging than I feared. He’s gone up a notch or two in my unworthy estimation, so let me tell you, he’s gigging most nights at Just the Tonic Nucleus for this Fringe.
Your experience will be different as Clive Anderson will have a different guest, bringing a different set of Wonders. Let me know if they also pick Edinburgh/Fringe/Festival as one of them.
My Seven Wonders podcast
Sometimes live action is better because the unexpected can happen. In this case the unexpected was Jimeoin not wanting to use the Seven Wonders list that Clive Anderson and Jimeoin’s team (PR agent? wife?) had agreed.
Brilliantly, this resulted in Anderson tossing his prepared pages (and pages) of notes over his head in a snowstorm of discarded material.
Fortunately, both are veterans of the stage, and we carried on, getting a great discussion about everything from Australia to the art of telling a joke, a full seven Wonders and a good session.
Studio Three at the Assembly George Square is a good and comfortable venue for the audience.
Overall
Clive Anderson thanked the audience at the show’s end, noting that we helped make the event too. I think he’s right; after all, I have Audience/Vibe as a score here as performers can influence the mood and some shows attract all sorts of wrongness.
Anderson’s audience is all sorts of rightness.
This intelligent man has curated a savvy fanbase (and me, the exception). If you’re interested in a joke-laden, insightful, but ad-hoc discussion on seven remarkable things picked by a (likely) remarkable person, then I think you’ll like My Seven Wonders.

Summary
My Seven Wonders oozes with Clive Anderson’s customary intelligence and charisma. I might even have to start listening to the podcast now!
