Did you know a huge amount of world changing inventions have come from Edinburgh? The city is full of universities and smart people so it might come as little surprise to find out.
Last month Edinburgh Reviews ran a competition to give away a copy of Brainstorm – a thriller with some weird science inventions.
We asked readers what they thought Edinburgh’s greatest invention was and gave a dozen options to pick from; the car speedometer, the grand piano, cloning, penicillin, the hypodermic syringe, the overdraft, the blackboard, bulldozers, the picture postcard, the digestive biscuit, the telephone and whisky. Only some of these options got votes.
Penicillin, by a country mile, comes out top and completely dominates the vote. The telephone comes in second place.
Yeah, a competition poll isn’t a scientifically robust survey but it’s still a fun way to see what readers think.
Good news! We have a Redbubble store. It's home of our 'not an influencer' t-shirt.
