Review: Copper Blossom, a cocktail bar on George Street

December 24, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Copper Blossom is a floral wonderland on George Street. With stunning decor and the viral Nickin’ Nolan cocktail supporting Cash For Kids, it is a must-visit. The steak and eggs are a highlight, though portions are refined. Highly recommended.

Review: The Gruff Goat, A cafe and bistro on Teviot Place

December 9, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Gruff Goat on Teviot Place is a strange beast. With a menu ranging from haggis to a recommended egg Shakshouka, it’s great for picky groups. However, the atmosphere is confused, and you might end up dining next to a heater.

A vibrant addition to the East End, ESF offers a slick mix-and-match dining experience. It is open late and ideal for the Playhouse crowd. While slightly pricier due to surcharges, the convenience and atmosphere make it a must-visit.

November 16, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Need a quick, flavourful bite in Edinburgh’s City Centre? Topolabamba delivers. This busy Mexican restaurant nails its street food classics. While not ideal for large groups, it’s perfect for 2-4 people. Service is quick and impressively attentive.

Review: Buck’s Bar: Big Chicken Burgers and Rock ‘n’ Roll on Grindlay Street

November 14, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Bucks Bar on Grindlay Street gets a top rating. While the Hanover St branch is moodier, Grindlay St wins on food. Expect huge, spicy buttermilk chicken burgers, sweet potato fries, and a fun vibe with friendly, busy staff. Save room for the cheesecake!
