Review: Tale of the Firebird – Concerto for Violin, Fire & Acrobatic Orchestra, Fringe 2026

August 21, 2026 by Lauren Charlotte Leave a Comment

If the combination of live string music, acrobatics and aerial arts sounds appealing, this show combines them wonderfully! Would certainly recommend this show to anyone who is curious to see these art forms merged in one show. It is very impressive!

The show eases us in, and gets more intense as it goes on. I think it was a good choice for the pacing to have sections to let just the live music breathe, and it’s lovely.

Selling Out Shows

This was sold out on a Thursday evening, and they have sold out on several other nights too. Plus the person next to me mentioned this was their second time seeing the show. I can understand why they wanted to come back a second time!

Early on the audience is treated to a great violin solo. To be skilled at either playing an instrument or at acrobatics is no easy feat, so to be good at both makes these performers extra impressive!

In all of the many live music and circus type shows I’ve seen over the years, I’ve never seen someone playing violin while standing in someone’s shoulders. And that wasn’t the only thing in this show that I hadn’t seen before!

Time Flew By

Time flew by during this performance, it held my attention the whole time. Even during the more relaxing sequences of just music.

This show has multiple aerial acts. Which I always love and these were no exception. My gaze was transfixed by the splendid grace displayed.

There are some theatrics too. There was what I can only describe as an acrobatic ‘violin off’ and it was very good!

Enchanting

These spectacles were enchanting to watch and filled me with wonderment. Watching Tale of the Firebird felt like witnessing a phoenix rising into the air!

This is a great combination and is done very well.
