Review: Monski Mouse’s Baby Disco Dance Hall, Fringe 2026

August 17, 2026 by Guest Reviewer Leave a Comment

Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Carers, I come bearing great news! You thought your disco dancing days were over but FEAR NOT, I am here to tell you that they have just moved to 10am at Palais du Variété at Assembly George Square Gardens with Monski Mouse.

Background

If you’ve not heard of Monski Mouse, let me introduce the DJ, performer and expert vibe curator for all things party for the under 5 set. Hailing from Australia, Monski has been a Fringe staple since 2006 with the first appearance of Baby Disco Dance Hall arriving in 2012. The show has been sold out success since 2022 and with this year being our second year attending, it is very clear why.

What to expect

Palais du Variété is a perfect dance hall venue, all disco lights and wide open dance floor as well as comfy booths lining the side for resting tired feet and toddler snack breaks. Theres even a little cushioned and blanketed floor area for those littles who are more in the mood for watching than participating (or for certain little boys, having pillow fights and building forts!).

The fun party vibe is set from the get go with a mix of old and new school tunes to get the feet tapping and everyone on the dancefloor. Accompanied by her two dancers Jeremiah and Jen, Monski sets the mood with dance instructions and suggestions of moves creating a fun and silly atmosphere.

Mixed in with the ‘grown ups music’, there are ‘kids’ songs both old and new. Nothing really bonds a room of parents like stomping in a circle pretending to be dinosaurs or crawling like lions to ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ but wow is it worth it seeing the joy of the roaring little ones. A firm favourite in our house has been the ‘Rock Your Bear Cub to Sleep’ song, complete with actions and the finale of Nelly The Elephant (rockified obviously).

There is something really special about getting to do the Dirty Dancing lift at 1030am on a Saturday morning with your toddler and looking around the room to see some core memories being made. Thank you Monski and crew for that!

Overall

Monski Mouse’s Baby Disco Dance Hall is an excellent hour of fun, silliness and dancing for adults and kids alike. Having been two years in a row, I would say that while the show is targeted to five years and under, three is the perfect age for the show in terms of engagement and playfulness, but also mid-30s is too as I think I had as much fun as my toddler did!
