This is a spectacularly funny musical that is brimming with heart. This is an example of mastery in story telling and foley, HOLE! is magnificent.
This may be the gayest thing I’ve seen since a Tom of Finland exhibition. (Be assured that is high praise)
I saw this show last year and it was my Fringe favourite. This year America Sing-Song (ASS) are back, filling a bigger venue with a slightly fine tuned show.
Buttplug Bonanza
Nadja and Jake combine musical talent, creative foley and imaginative story telling to bring this tale to light.
A tale about a religious sect in Nebraska that believe they must wear buttplugs at all times otherwise they will be sucked up into the sky, ass first.
The craziest part is, they’re right!
A Love Story
For such a bonkers premise, the duo do effectively incorporate emotional threads too. There were moments I truly felt for the characters.
For a buttplug musical, it certainly isn’t lacking in depth and range. Among the abundance of laughs, this musical also touches upon the difficulties of self acceptance and identity while growing up within a suffocatingly limited environment. The heartfelt coming of age love story interwoven into the show elevates this above just being really funny.
The very creative foley really adds to the atmosphere where such an imaginative picture is painted despite such a simple set up. It works brilliantly!
Brilliantly Bizarre
I was unapologetically cackling throughout HOLE! I absolutely love this show, the audience had a brilliant time and I can’t sing it’s praises enough!
After a standing ovation, while the audience filtered out of the venue, I could hear many expressing how fantastic it was.
When Nadja and Jake emerged to meet audience members post show, more cheers and applause erupted for them. That’s how great this show was.
If you find the premise intriguing, check out HOLE! while you can!
