Review: EXGPro Luffy Cable Guy – The King of the Peripherals?

In the ever-expanding universe of gaming and geek merchandise, some items are purely decorative, while others serve a practical purpose.

Luffy

EXGPro’s ‘Cable Guys’ aim to do both, offering fans a characterful way to store their controllers and phones. We got our hands on the future Pirate King himself, Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, to see if he’s up to the task.

Surprisingly Mighty

To be honest, we didn’t have high expectations. A plastic figurine designed to hold your tech sounds simple, but we were genuinely impressed from the moment the box was opened. The packaging has a premium feel, and inside, Luffy is a surprisingly hefty and well-made figure. He’s chunky, solid, and has a real weight to him—a stark contrast to his stretchy, rubbery anime counterpart.

Living on the coast of Scotland, we’re no strangers to a bit of a breeze. To put Luffy’s build quality to a true test, we took him down to the harbour on a day when the winds whipping off the Firth of Forth felt like they were reaching storm force. A lesser holder would have been sent tumbling into the sea.

Luffy, however, stood his ground. He was rock steady against the wind, cradling an expensive smartphone without a single wobble. The fact that we were willing to trust this vibrant, grinning pirate with our tech on the edge of a harbour wall is a true testament to its build. This is a quality product.

Packed with Personality

Beyond its impressive durability, the design is simply fantastic. The colours are bright and perfectly capture the look of the beloved character, and Luffy’s wide-eyed, excited expression is infectious. It’s a piece that instantly adds a splash of fun to any desk or gaming setup.

There’s a charming quirk to the design, too. When you place your phone in his hands sideways, it looks a little like Luffy is about to take a massive, hungry bite out of it. It’s a small detail, but it’s this kind of character that elevates the Cable Guy from a simple stand to a fun and engaging collectable.

Overall

It’s hard to find fault in a product that so thoroughly exceeds expectations. The EXGPro Luffy Cable Guy is more than just a piece of plastic; it’s a “well-crafted and surprisingly durable” accessory for any fan of One Piece, or for anyone who just wants to keep their gaming space tidy. It’s a fantastic addition to any desk, gaming room, or personal space that brings both function and joy.
