Radar: The UK’s largest D&D convention returns to Edinburgh

July 31, 2025 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Tabletop Scotland runs in the Royal Highland Centre from 5th to 7th September, and it’s the UK’s largest D&D convention.

Tabletop Scotland 2025

There are one or two larger tabletop games events in the UK than Tabletop Scotland, such as the giant UK Games Expo, but Tabletop Scotland is the largest Adventurers League event. The Adventurers League is Wizards of the Coast’s official organised play for Dungeons & Dragons.

From Ingliston to the Forgotten Realms

For fans of roleplaying games, Tabletop Scotland has become a cornerstone of the UK convention calendar. Since 2022, the Edinburgh-based event has hosted more Dungeons & Dragons than any other UK convention, taking up the mantle from larger, pre-pandemic events and cementing its reputation as the premier destination for D&D players.

This dedication has not gone unnoticed. The convention’s organisers have been officially appointed as one of only five ‘Premier Organisers’ for the D&D Adventurers League worldwide.

On the Adventure Menu

Attendees at Tabletop Scotland this September will be the first in the country to officially play in this new setting. The adventures were successfully playtested at the UK Games Expo earlier this year and are now ready for their grand debut. The initial offerings include:

  • The Grand Bazaar of Skalnaedyr: Written by Colin Tweddle, this adventure consists of four one-hour mini-scenarios set in the bustling capital city, which is itself named after the ancient blue dragon who rules it.
  • Trouble in Kobold Crown: Penned by Richard Green (who has previously written for Wizards of the Coast), this adventure kicks off a planned trilogy set in the Copper Mountains.
  • Sands of Talos: Written by veteran organiser Ian Hawthorne, and in this adventure, each table will be working to achieve a similar goal, but secretly on behalf of a different Dragon Prince, promising intrigue and excitement on a massive scale.

With this new international status and a slate of exclusive world-premiere adventures, Tabletop Scotland is not just a fixture in the Edinburgh events calendar, but a world-leading destination for Dungeons & Dragons fans.

Tabletop Scotland takes place at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th September 2025.
