This announcement marks the start of the build-up to EJBF26, with the festival organisers securing major talent well in advance of the July dates.

Electrifying Energy at the Usher Hall

On Wednesday, 22 July 2026, the Usher Hall will host the 20-piece band for what promises to be a high-octane performance. Jools Holland is renowned for his ability to blend jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie into a show that feels less like a concert and more like a party.

The lineup for the Edinburgh show includes special guest star Roachford, a rock and soul sensation in his own right. They will be joined by the powerful vocals of Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall, and Sumudu Jayatilaka. The combination of Holland’s piano mastery and the orchestra’s wall of sound is a staple of the live music circuit, offering an evening of exceptional musicianship.

Tickets are likely to be in high demand given the long lead time and the performers’ popularity.

Things to do in the West End

The Usher Hall is situated at the top of Lothian Road, placing it firmly in Edinburgh’s West End. This area is a cultural hub, bridging the gap between the historic Old Town and the New Town’s shopping districts.

Accommodation: For those travelling from further afield, staying near the venue is a smart move. The area is home to several premium options, including the historic Caledonian (now a Waldorf Astoria) and the Sheraton Grand. For a broader range of prices, you can check availability on Booking.com or compare rates via Expedia. If you prefer the familiarity of a chain, Best Western often has properties within easy reach of the city centre.

Transport: The venue is well-connected. Haymarket Station is just a ten-minute walk away, making it the most convenient rail hub for the gig. You can plan your journey and book tickets in advance through TheTrainLine. If you are flying in for the festival, Edinburgh Airport offers tram and bus links that drop you minutes from the concert hall. For those driving, car hire is available viaΒ Avis, though parking in the city centre can be expensive.

Food and Drink: Lothian Road is locally famous for its “measured mile” of pubs and restaurants. You might try the Innis & Gunn Taproom for a pre-show beer or Topolabamba for a quick bite. If you are staying in an apartment and prefer a night in after the show, Deliveroo operates extensively in the area, bringing local favourites to your door.

    For your Radar

Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra play the Usher Hall on 22 July 2026 as part of the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival. It is a major booking that signals the start of announcements for the 2026 festival season. Expect a night of polished, high-energy musical entertainment.
