The Edinburgh University Students’ Association runs or controls the city’s iconic Pleasance Dome and Courtyard locations. With the Pleasance Theatre Trust, they’ve arranged for some local favourites and some exciting newcomers to sell food at the venues.
Food and drink at the Pleasance Dome

Mac Love is back with its famous mac ‘n’ cheese outside the Pleasance Dome on Potterrow Plaza. While you’re there, you can also try the popular interactive simulation Séance & Flight at the Pleasance Theatre Trust in the plaza. You might want to experience the simulation before indulging in some deluxe cheesy pasta!
Inside the Dome, the Bar & Kitchen will be serving a full menu of food and drinks, making it the perfect place for a pit-stop between shows.
Food and drink at the Pleasance Courtyard

The Pleasance Courtyard will be bustling with tourists but also packed with popular city bars and food vendors, sheltered under a canopy of umbrellas and tents in the traditional cobbled courtyards. Expect at least one Instagram moment here, a queue and someone being annoying.
South Queensferry’s Little Parlour Ice Cream is known for having some of the best gelato in Scotland. Regardless of the weather, they are always open. For those with a preference for savory treats, Doorstep Deli, which has been established in Edinburgh for over 22 years, offers high-quality food and drink from Scotland, Italy, Spain, and France. The business’s Italian heritage inspires its passion for food and wine.
Total Meltdown is coming back to the Courtyard, offering what they claim to be the “best grilled cheese sandwiches” made with sourdough bread, mature cheddar, and high-quality ingredients.
Harajuku Street Food, renowned for its delicious street food from Stockbridge Market and recipient of the Best Street Food in Scotland award (Scottish Food and Drinks Awards 2018), is serving its popular Karaage Fried Chicken and Stir-Fry Yaki Udon Noodles at this year’s Fringe festival.
Meanwhile, Mimi’s Bakehouse, a favourite spot in the city, is back at the Pleasance Courtyard Green. They offer delicious baked goods, Machina coffee, Eteaket tea, Luca’s ice cream, and savoury lunch options. This is a great choice for families, located next to our ‘Kid’s Zone’.
Edinburgh’s gourmet burger stall, Luxford Burgers, has relocated from Pleasance Dome to the Courtyard. Despite the move, the stall continues to offer its classic dishes, featuring beef, chicken, and veggie burgers made from local ingredients. The clue, after all, is in the name.
Mint offers a delightful Chicken and Halloumi Wrap, along with a variety of options for both meat-eaters and vegans. Pizza Geeks, on a mission to find the ultimate pizza, serve up freshly made Neapolitan-inspired pizza with a slice of geekiness.
Alcohol at the Pleasance

A fairly diverse range of beverages awaits at the venues, as this is how money is made. The range includes Molson Coors brands at every location. Prahva, Carling, Staropramen, Guinness, Rekorderlig ciders, Johnnie Walker, Gordon’s Gin, Fever-Tree soft drinks, and more are all on offer. The bars tend to have draught and canned cocktails for quick service, as well as drinks available in performance queues.

thanks for posting! Any idea if Mac Man (FKA Mac Shack) over by Underbelly George Square?
Hmm. I was there for the Food Festival and don’t recall seeing them — but I’m sure there’s a Mac van in Bristo Square, nearby.
