A review of Clockwork Removals Edinburgh

September 8, 2021 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Separation is hard enough, a breakup during the lockdown is terrible, and a lockdown separation in which you surrender your home and offer to move out could be a nightmare.

Clockwork, thankfully, was not part of the problem. In fact, Clockwork helped.

Clockwork Removals Edinburgh

Firstly, Clockwork ticked the box of “a removal company with positive reviews in Edinburgh” and the box “a company that will help me move and rebuild”.

Clockwork’s team dismantled my bed to get it out of my old flat; they then carried the parts to my new second floor flat and rebuilt it in my new bedroom. The two young guys then helped me move the bed around the room until it was in the right place.

Helpful! Calling the company a “Removal” company seems to undersell that service.

Before we got to that point, though, I had compared Clockwork to some other rivals. The process was easy. Clockwork Removals made it clear to me what they offered and did not.

The quote I got from them was competitive and thorough. The only snag was that their automated system didn’t quite get the paperwork to me, so they sent it as an attachment after a phone call instead.

A salesperson/size assessor visited my flat (wearing a mask) and worked with me to determine the size of the move and how many cardboard boxes I would need. He got it exactly right. I had no spare boxes but never felt as I was crowding the boxes.

On the day of the move, the team arrived promptly and got to work. I think one extra person would have made a huge difference but would have cost more. The two young men were helpful, polite, careful with my stuff and managed to Tetris their large van/small truck so that it took only one trip.

The second half was much harder work. I was not able to find a new apartment with a lift, even though I’ve arthritis. I couldn’t help much, but the Clockwork team did all the heavy lifting. It took all day, but it was done.

And that brings us back to the removal men helping unpack and rebuild. They didn’t go until I was happy, and I didn’t feel any pressure to let them retreat.

Amazingly, there was no skiving long lunch break.

Summary

Strong value for money and equally strong helpers. Clockwork didn’t just move my stuff; they helped rebuild my stuff.
