Goose is a good morning show to bring your littlest ones along to. The audience was made up of mums and grandparents with their babies and toddlers, and we all were charmed by the two characters.
The performance
The show starts with a sad Sophie feeling lonely – which seemed rather an emotional start for the young crowd, but quickly portrays the beauty of true friendships and the fun of sharing life experiences with friends.
It lightly touches on themes such as saying goodbye to loved ones and supporting what’s best for our friends, even when it might make us sad.
Sophie and Goose go from park to farm having all sorts of fun and singing songs, getting the audience involved counting to ten in different ways, splashing in muddy puddles and stomping our feet.
As a two-man show with little “attrezzo” it relies heavily on a screen to project the illustrations that you may or may not already know from Laura Wall’s book (I didn’t), which seemed at times a little hard for the little people to grasp.
Overall
I found it a nice show even without having read the book, kept kids entertained for the 45 minutes without being the most interactive. There’s slower parts and more hectic bits which made everyone laugh and feel part of the story.
I would recommend getting there early as the seats are in two rows and second row children might not get the best experience. There was buggy parking right outside and it seems easy enough to get in and out if your little human needs it.
Goose
Summary
Goose is a children’s show based on the illustrated book by Laura Walls. It’s a fun, morning show your little ones will enjoy.
