Review of Baby Rock, Fringe 2024

August 23, 2024 by Guest Reviewer Leave a Comment

The use of props, from bubbles to pieces of fabric and the shadow play keeps this show dynamic and interesting, and ensured my little one was captivated throughout.

Even though it was a three-woman show (counting lights and music), it didn’t feel less than some of the shows with a full team of people involved, which is saying a lot.

The story

I found the story to be very heartwarming. The grandma that leaves and a new friendship that overcomes language barriers just speaks to everyone.

It definitely spoke to me as a non-English speaker expat living in Scotland, and I can’t help but feel there should be more shows like this.

A genuine impression on little ones

The storyline is just so beautiful, and it is performed so that even little ones grasp it! My two-year-old came home explaining how if we’re not different it gets boring… I mean, I’m impressed.

I was genuinely thinking he was only there for the bubbles!

Overall

Three characters and two actresses, loads of music and plenty bubbles made of this show a great experience for everyone. Highly recommend!

Don’t know about the kiddies but myself at my 31 years absolutely loved it!

Small and cozy venue paired with a heartwarming story full of good tunes make Baby Rock a must see for little humans and adults alike!
