A Review of Mythos: Ragnarök, Fringe 2025

August 22, 2025 by Guest Reviewer Leave a Comment

Norse mythology meets WWE in Mythos: Ragnarök, a high-octane show with surprisingly sincere performances.

This show came highly recommended from friends who caught it at last year’s fringe, and I’m truly glad they encouraged me to snap up a ticket. I was blown away by the physicality of our Norse gods as they clashed for power, revenge, and even love.

Vibe

The atmosphere created in the big top at the Underbelly Circus Hub for this performance was infectious. The pulsing lights and music, smoke, and hollering crowds dialled up the energy to feel more like WrestleMania than a theatre show.

I found myself cheering and chanting with the best of them, as the physical prowess of the wrestlers shocked and delighted me. They took big hits and big falls, with the incredible female performers tousling with men twice their size.

I can’t imagine the strength and training required to pull off some of the stunts so realistically, and safely!

The show

While I’ve rightfully hyped up the physical performances of this production, it also served up a compelling story of Norse mythology and the events of Ragnarok.

Winking to the elements people might have been familiar with from the Marvel movies, the show quickly moved us through the story of Odin’s quest for power, assisted by the impish Loki, with surprising heart. It felt as if the wrestling sequences were a logical extension of this clash of the gods, rather than being artificially inserted for the sake of spectacle.

The audience’s transportation to another world was sealed by effective costume design, sound and lighting, making this a thoroughly polished and well rounded show.

You could tell we had completely bought into the illusion when the previously raucous crowd, booing and cheering for their favourite gods, fell completely silent during the emotional climax of the story.

Overall

Mythos: Ragnarök is a must-see show is an adrenaline filled and transportive experience, balancing impressive physicality with true storytelling.
