Edinburgh’s Red Dice Games offers 20% off some games in a charity drive

July 15, 2021 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

If you pop along Great Junction Street in Leith, find Spilt Milk and explore inside, you’ll discover Red Dice Games.

You won’t be surprised to know that the shop sells board games, dice games, card games, living or otherwise, miniature tabletop games and even family games. Equally, it’s not a challenge to imagine the independent retailer has not found the lockdown enjoyable at all.

However, as shopping begins to return to the high street, Red Dice Games are thinking about Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and have found a way to turn old, dust-covered and abandoned games into a good idea.

In conjunction with Big Potato Games, they’re swapping 20% discounts with donations to the charity.

Gamers or ex-gamers can take their old board games to Red Dice, the game will get donated to the Children’s Hospital Charity, and 20% off Big Potato Games’ products picked up in exchange. And Big Potato has plenty of great games like Obama Llama, The Chameleon and Blockbuster.

The charitable trade-in efforts are being coordinated by Laura Crumbley and Hannah Cornish of Big Potato Games. They told the press;

We wanted to do something to support our fantastic independent stores, who’ve been forced to shut up shop for the best part of a year. With the Great Board Game Trade-In, we can help drive footfall to the store, whilst giving board games to organisations that really need them. What’s not to love?”

Red Dice Games have told Edinburgh Reviews that readers can either pop into the store, perhaps checking Facebook for opening hours or to call 07503855794 to check in advance.

A super #giraffeabouttown
Breakfast at @thehavencafe is always a treat and if I put different toppings with my pancakes it counts as exploring the menu. Right?
I bought a summer shirt (therefore ending summer) but I thought this corner of @_yellow_souls_ was equally worthy of finding a new home. Just as strong summer vibes!
Gang, @harmoniumbar's cauliflower steak of is worth fighting through the crowds for!
I enjoyed my trip to @nott_edinburgh and finding out what their Turkish Pizza was like! Delish.
Wholesome messages in Victoria Park 🫂
